Regional Leadership Academy
“The achievements of an organization are the results of the combined effort of each individual.”
7 out of our 8 executive board members attended the annual Delta Upsilon IHQ Regional Leadership Academy this weekend in Atlanta, GA. The brothers learned invaluable skills involving chapter leadership, development, loss prevention, and finance to name a few. The men returned to campus committed to better serving their brothers and their community as a whole.
“Interacting with other DU chapters was my favorite part. Not only did we get to meet fellow brothers, but we got to share our fraternity experiences and use that insight to improve our own chapters”
-Andrew Brancato, VP of Finance
Spring Rush Recap
With Spring Rush complete, our chapter has welcomed a group of outstanding potential new members into the fraternity. At the IFC ‘Tables’ event (Pictured) our brothers got to see many familiar faces from other events hosted throughout the recruitment cycle, and got the opportunity to talk about the details of day-to-day life in Delta U with a diverse group of interested rushees.
As the weather begins to warm up again and our football season has long since concluded, it is time for another recruitment cycle. Starting in the coming weeks the brothers of Delta U will be hosting PNMs at a variety of events. In the past, we have invited rushees to cigar and poker nights, dodgeball tournaments, and catered dinners to name a few. More posts to come as we near our formal dinner and bid day.
A Successful Can Drive
"He who wishes to secure the good of others, has already secured his own."
The Alpha Nu chapter of Delta Upsilon is constantly striving to serve our local community with large community service initiatives once a semester, and smaller events through out the school year. This fall, the brothers came together to collect cans at brother and past president Clesson Allman’s house. Brother Allman then delivered the cans to a local food/can bank in the Columbia area. We look forward to our large spring event benefitting the American Heart Association. More news to come as the event gets closer.
“Leadership is not about the next election, it is about the next generation”
Today was an exciting day of change for this chapter. Our newly elected executive board sat at the front of the room for the first time to transition into their new leadership roles. As pictured, the gavel was passed from brother Clesson Allman (right) to brother Clay Maguire to begin his year of presidency for the chapter. All other VP positions are listed below.

Fall Rush 2018
Yesterday afternoon our Fall 2018 Associate Member class accepted their bids. We held a highly successful rush that brought in an outstanding group of men thanks to our VP of Recruitment, Brother Rice. Every member of Delta U put work and time into making this rush one of the best in our chapters history. More updates to follow as we approach initiation in the coming weeks.
“The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide you’re not going to stay where you are.”

The 2018 school year is upon us, and our past year of planning is soon to pay off. Fall recruitment begins in less than 10 days, and the preparations are in full swing. Navigate to our recruitment page for updates as they are released.
A Year in Review
"I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination"
Times are ever changing, and Delta U is no different. Our 31 new members have brought about a fresh voice within our chapter. To our graduating seniors, we thank you for your commitment and dedication through the years, and we look forward to continuing to grow upon the foundation you have set for us. 2017 has been a year of outstanding change and growth. The future has never been brighter, and we could not be more excited to get back to work come the fall. Our Exec board has already begun planning for our Fall 2018 rush, which is looking to be one of the greatest in our chapters long history. We would like to wish everyone a fun and relaxing summer, and hope you are equally excited for what is to come.
Hitting the Books
Things are winding down for us here in Delta U. As classes begin to wrap up and studying intensifies, it isn't an easy time of year at USC by any means. The longer summer nights and bright 90 degree days remind us of what we are working towards as we look out the windows of Thomas Cooper Library. The summer is near, and we're in the final stretch.
Beach Weekend was a total success, and a great way to cap off the 2017-2018 school year. The weather was not on our side, however the Delta U brothers made the most of it. On Saturday night we attended our highly anticipated formal at the Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Come Sunday, we packed back into our cars and made the long drive back to campus. We are extremely thankful to those that put all their time and energy into making Beach Weekend 2k18 the great event that it was.
It's safe to say we left it all on the court. Along with multiple teams from outside the fraternity we competed for awesome prizes in the first ever Jon Idle Memorial Basketball Tournament. Our event went flawlessly thanks to generous donations from Beezers Sandwich Shop, Barefoot Campus Outfitters, Horseshoe Catering, and various other sponsors. We were happy to spend the day playing our past brother Jon Idle's favorite sport.
Off to the races
The Delta U brothers attended the final Carolina Cup to offer College Park this past weekend. Complete with bowties and plenty of comfort colors we piled onto busses with our dates to head to Camden, SC. It was a great day at a beautiful venue, and we were proud to represent USC as the only fraternity that attended. We received a prominent feature in the campus newspaper, the Daily Gamecock, as well. With the College Park era coming to a close, we are happy we were able to celebrate the great event with our closest brothers and friends.

Delta U brothers are on the move
Our brother spotlight this semester goes to Trevor Moxely. This summer, Brother Trevor Moxley ’19 will be interning with the investment bank Morgan Stanley in New York City, where he will be working with the Public Finance group as they underwrite state and other public debt issuances. Trevor is excited for the opportunity to experience a summer on Wall Street and to work with the best and brightest in finance.
Spring 2018 Initiation
With our final initiation of the year in the books, we look forward to continuing to bond with our four newest brothers. Thank you local alumni Brother Blake Edmunds for welcoming these outstanding men into our brotherhood and Delta U family.
Delta U goes to Columbia Heart walk
All Delta U brothers volunteered at the local Columbia Heart walk hosted by local alumni, Brother Terry Schmoyer. We directed traffic, served food, and helped set up the expo area. It was a great morning and we were happy to help one of out most active alumni. We thank Mr. Schmoyer for the wonderful opportunity.
Going bald for St. Baldricks
Brother Colin DeFelice shaved his head this Saturday to benefit childhood cancer support and research! Colin has participated in this event through all his years at USC, and continues to make DU proud through his commitment for the kids.
Helping our local alumni
Many Delta U brothers recently drove to a beautiful farm off campus to help pack a local alumni's music video shoot! The brothers who attended got a chance to meet Dr. Vacchio of Big Time Entertainment, and participate in the shoot.
Greek Week is here!
In 3 weeks Greek Week will be upon us. Through blood, sweat, and tears we will grow closer with our greek life family while competing against other chapters to see who will be victorious. This glorious week of fraternal brotherhood and sisterhood is a highlight of every year, and we look forward to representing Delta Upsilon throughout the week and on the top of the podium.
John Idle Memorial Basketball Tournament
This past summer Delta Upsilon unexpectedly lost our brother Jon Idle to a heart condition. Because of his lifelong basketball fandom we decided to create this tournament in his honor. The tournament is 3v3 and we have divisions for men, women, and co-ed entrants. There will be cash and gift card prizes as well as catering from local restaurants.
